Please note that The Schiele Museum is currently closed to the public.

Aug. 5, 2020

At this time, we do not have a definite reopen date.  We are adhering to the Governor's phased reopen plans, and we hope to be open as part of Phase Three or as the Governor's plan permits. Phase Three is currently identified by the Governor to be in effect for September 11th.

Once museums are permitted to reopen in North Carolina, The Schiele will open to our members first in appreciation for their dedication and support! Specific dates for members only and then opening to the general public will be determined and announced in conjunction with an official reopening date as restrictions are lifted by the Governor’s phased plans.

As of August 15th, The Schiele Museum's Outdoor Exhibits will be temporarily close as we work on projects and new programs for our members and vistiors in the coming weeks.

The Nature Trail is still be accessible.

We at The Schiele Museum of Natural History and Planetarium recognize the ongoing concern about coronavirus (COVID-19). The Museum’s absolute highest priority is the health and safety of our guests, our staff, and our volunteers. We are taking every necessary precaution to prevent, manage, and mitigate the possibility of the virus spreading onto our campus.  To this end, The Schiele will be closed until....the Governor, the County, the City, and all the diligent health officials tell it's "ok" to invite the public back. We can't wait for that day! Until then, we're doing our part to stay healthy - as should you!

#StayHome: It's for the safety of our community, family and friends.
