2020 Summer Camps for Rising 1st & 2nd Graders

 

Summer camp at The Schiele Museum is a unique experience full of excitement for exploring science and the natural world. Participants can look forward to hands-on activities and a variety of learning experiences within the museum, outdoors on the Nature Trail, and on carefully selected trips in the local community. Organized activities begin each day at 9 AM and end at 4 PM. Every participant is invited to participate in our extended day program that allows drop-off as early as 7:30 AM and pick-up at late as 5:30 PM at no additional charge.

 

Camp 101: Go for the Gold

June 15 - 19, 2020

Return to the days of Ancient Greece and the first Olympics to discover the origins of games and contests of strength, speed and agility. Showcase your skills while participating in mock Olympic trials!

 

Camp 102: Can You Dig It?

June 22-26, 2020

Dig in to discover the differences between archeology, geology, and paleontology. Explore how each of these sciences studies treasures from the earth to reveal stories about our past.

 

Camp 103: Mr. Sam’s Spontaneous Science Camp

June 29 – July 3, 2020

Who knows what will happen in Mr. Sam’s camp? Our unpredictable physics genius will enlighten, inspire and entertain the brains of budding scientists with fantastic experiments and outlandish demonstrations.

 

Camp 104: It’s Snot So Gross

July 6 - 10, 2020

Make fake snot, design phony poo, find out how germy your hands really are and more stinky, slimy, and oozy fun! Young grossologists will get knee-deep in experiments and crafts to to learn the science of some human body functions.

 

Camp 105: Primary Piccassos

July 13 - 17, 2020

Dive into the world of art by exploring different ways of creating! Experiment with paint, clay, sketching, and more!

 

Camp 106: Superman-imals

July 20 - 24, 2020

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s superman-imals! Explore the superpowers of live animals, their adaptations and habitats, and learn how you can use your own superpowers to help animals survive.

 

Camp 107: 5-Day Adventure Vest

July 27 - 31, 2020

Five days. Five pockets. Five mystery topics. Each day a different pocket on our adventure vests will reveal a unique topic of discovery and exploration. From animals to technology to things that fizz and bubble, we’ll cover it all.

 

Camp 108: American Originals?

August 3 - 7, 2020

Do you know which common American foods, games, and music actually come from other cultures? Travel around the world discovering where American favorites began.

 

Camp 109: Make-It Summer

August 10 - 14, 2020

Get totally hands-on and crafty while making things such as slime, marshmallow launchers, lip balm, bubble paintings and so much more!

 

Camp 110: Ag Adventures

August 17 - 21, 2020

Discover how plants and animals have helped to shape our community for generations, then get down and dirty on the farm to learn how we can still benefit from them today.
