The Schiele Museum is open!
On May 14, Governor Cooper lifted some restrictions under Executive Order 215 for North Carolina. Per the Executive Order, there are places which still require a mask (covering the nose and mouth). The Schiele Museum will continue to require our guest and visitors to wear masks because we provide services to children, including organized groups like schools and camps. The museum also provides our own children’s classes, programs, and summer camps making it necessary to wear masks under this Executive Order. In following recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and as stated in the revised order, face coverings /masks are recommended for those who are not vaccinated and for all people in large venues.
On April 28, 2021 Governor Cooper announced an update to the Executive Order to take effect on Friday, April 30, 2021 in which masks are no longer required outdoors when social distancing can be maintained. Masks are encouraged outdoors when you cannot socially distance. Masks covering the nose and mouth are still required indoors. The Schiele will continue to follow the guidelines as recommendend by the CDC, will adhere to the NC Executive Orders, in addition to the policies of the City of Gastonia.
On March 23, 2021, Governor Cooper announced that North Carolina museums could reopen at 100% capacity beginnning March 26th! Covid prevention measures will remain in place and include wearing a mask that covers the nose and mouth along with maintaining social distance from others (not within your immediate household) by at least 6'. Continued sanitation of the facility will remain in place.
